Founded in 1999 by Club 69 mastermind and Grammy award winning producer, DJ and remix artist Peter Rauhofer, Star 69 Records is a passionate dance music enthusiast's dream come true. The culmination of many years working in the music industry in a wide variety of roles ranging from record store clerk to A&R Director at GIG-BMG Records in Austria, the label allows Rauhofer to directly reach his growing fan base and share his innovative vision of progressive dance music with the masses.
A distribution arrangement with the Alternative Distribution Alliance (ADA) affords Star 69 many of the advantages of a major record label, while allowing the company to stay true to the underground sound and nightclub culture.
In just three years, Star 69 achieved phenomenal success with a non-stop array of electrifying releasing includes seven number one Billboard hits: The Collaboration [Peter Rauhofer + Victor Calderone] "Do It Properly", Dynamix "Don't Want Another Man", Celeda "The Underground", Suzanne Palmer "Hide U", Frankie Goes to Hollywood "Relax" and The Collaboration [Peter Rauhofer + Pet Shop Boys] "Break 4 Love". In the summer of 2002 Star 69 released two hits that also made Billboard's Top 5; Celeda "Free Your Mind" peaking at # 3 and Suzanne Palmer "Show Me" at #4. Star 69's fourth year began with a #1 Billboard hit for Funky Green Dogs with "Rise Up."
In the past few years Star 69 has released 70 singles and 20 full-length albums. In October 2002, the label released a remake of the 1972 track by the legends, Yoko Ono and John Lennon, "Yang, Yang" featuring remixes by Rauhofer himself. Current releases include the second compilation by internationally renowned DJ and remixing duo, Saeed & Palash, "Addictive Beats". Their first compilation, "TIDE:EDIT:07" was released on Star 69 in 2002. Rauhofer's own wildly successful compilation, "Peter Rauhofer: Live @ Roxy", debuting at Number 5 on Virgin's best seller's list, is back this year with another hit "Live @ Roxy 2". In June 2003 Star 69 also released its first chill lounge compilation entitled "hear." including rare, never before released chill mixes of tracks such as Peter Rauhofer's mix of Yoko Ono's "Walking On Thin Ice". As well Star 69 has been releasing the "Extended Mixes" volumes that allow fans to hear tracks from your favorite label never before released on CD! The label has had considerable success with single releases in 2003. Clubgoers were devouring the dance floor to hits like Funky Green Dogs' "Rise Up", CYN's "Fantasy Reality" and Andrea Doria's "Bucci Bag". The dance floor anthem of the summer Amuka "Appreciate Me", had radio coverage on mix shows all over the country including WKTU in New York! The end of 2003 saw fans dancing to Oscar G's first release on Star 69 Records "Live @ Space".
Star 69 Records started 2004 off right when they won "Best Dance Label" at the International Dance Music Awards, making good on their nomination for the award in 2003. Star 69 Records started their partnership with Armani Exchange (A|X) bringing together seductive house beats with Giorgio Armani's innovative fashion collection for the young, urban chic. Star 69 Records and A|X released two compilations in 2004; "Higher" mixed by Peter Rauhofer and "Chemistry" mixed by DJ Rap and DJ Palash. Star 69 also released many firsts on the label with the vocally charged album "Divas to the Dance floor," Portugal's DJ Vibe's "Underground Sound of Lisbon" album and Israel's Offer Nissim's popular singles: "That's the Way I Like It" and "Searching". Rauhofer releases the third installment in his successful "Live @ Roxy" series and the year ended on a high note with the 2005 remix of Celeda's "The Underground" by Xpander and the wildly successful first single off Suzanne Palmer's highly anticipated LP "Luv 2 Luv".
2005 was an especially exciting year for Star 69 Records with many stunning full length album releases, including Suzanne Palmer's LP "Home", Offer Nissim's LP "First Time", and Robbie Rivera's compilation "Juicy Music Vol.1". The year also brought award winning Peter Rauhofer’s spectacular fourth installment of the “Live @ Roxy” series. Star 69 record’s full length catalog was only matched by its triumphant compilation of singles with Avenue D “Do I look Like a Slut?” Suzanne Palmer “Sound of the Drum”, Angel Moraes’s instant classic “Music Is Your Life”, Inaya Day “Nasty Girl”, K&S Project “The Music”, and Offer Nissim “That Is The Way I Like It”. To further complement Star 69 Record’s stellar collection of exceptional dance music the third volume of the Armani Exchange CD mixed by Roger Sanchez and fourth by Junior Jack were sold out shortly after their release.
Star 69 made its presence heard in 2006 as the premier underground dance music label with powerful beat-mixed compilations including award winning DJ Oscar G with “Made in Miami”, Saeed Younan “Re-mixed” which all the songs were remixed by him. Peter Rauhofer presents his newest compilation series, “I Love”. Peter successfully brings the listener to each of his residencies throughout the nation and abroad with the two first installments “I Love New York” and “I Love Miami”. Of course as Star 69 presents incredible full length releases, our singles are what really sets us part from other labels; Cevin Fisher’s “Love You Some More”, Suzanne Palmer’s “Fascinated” and “Keep the Faith”, Offer Nissim “First Time” and “Perfect Love”, 2 Raumwohnung’s “Sex Secret”, and the huge success “Discoteka” by the StarKillers. Also in 2006, Star 69 has joined forces with satellite radio to implement Star69 Artist Showcases such as “69 Beats” on XM Radio and G.I.R.L. (Gay Internet Radio Live). The Star 69 shows will feature exclusive mix shows and interviews with Peter Rauhofer, Offer Nissim, Tom Stephan a.k.a. Superchumbo, Chus and Ceballos, Hector Fonseca, and many others.
2007 and 2008 will be spectacular years for Star 69 Records with compelling new releases of both full-length albums and solo tracks and remixes. Kicking off 2007 on a strong note Superchumbo released his 2xCD beat-mixed compilation “Let’s Go Chumbo!”. Peter Rauhofer will be released his highly anticipated “Club 69 Remixed” and continue turning out installments of the evolutionary “I Love” series. The legendary Johnny Dynell’s long awaited “Elements of Vogue” presenting the history of Vogue dancing on 2 CDs. Suzanne Palmer’s LP “Home-Remixed” all new remixes of her smash hit “Home” LP, and 2007 will usher in the highly anticipated Starkillers full album. Other releases for 2008 include “Extended Mixes, Vol. 7” and “New York Club Anthems vol. 3”. Alogn with new singles; “Scream” by the Starkillers and a remixed version of the widely popular “Discoteka”, Laura Kidd- "Automatic" remix packages as well as Offer Nissim "Happy People", "Cha Cha Cha" and "For Your Love" remixes.
Also look for Star 69 releasing Peter Bailey and Richie Santana's "Mind Control" along with Pacha NYC/Space Miami resident DJ Boris' highly-anticipated 2-disc, "Believe in Boris".
